Privacy policy
Last updated
MinePlay (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you use the website and the browser-based game (the “Services”), and how we handle it.
What we store
If you play as a guest we store nothing that identifies you. With an account — which is optional — we keep the email address, display name and profile picture Google gives us, plus the server listings and shared worlds you publish.
Local world data
Singleplayer worlds, settings and key bindings live in your browser's storage on your own device. We cannot read them. Clearing site data, switching browsers, using private mode or a school IT policy wiping the cache removes them permanently — which is why every world can be exported as an .mpsv file, and why signing in adds cloud backups. If you enable backups, the world files you back up are stored on our servers tied to your account and nothing else.
Shared worlds and location
When you publish a shared world, your browser sends the IANA time zone it is set to (for example Europe/Bratislava). It is used for one thing: to place a dot on the map on the home page. It is city-level at best, it is data your browser already exposes to every site you visit, and it is deleted with the listing. We never geolocate anyone by IP address.
Analytics
We count page views, client launches and errors in aggregate to see which versions need work. No profiles are built and no data is sold. If a site administrator has configured Google Analytics or Tag Manager, those scripts run under their own policies.
Cookies
One session cookie when you sign in, plus browser storage for your preferences such as the default game version. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set by us. You can disable cookies in your browser, though sign-in will stop working.
Children's privacy
The Services are not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country if it is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.
Third-party servers
Multiplayer servers listed on MinePlay are operated by independent third parties. When you connect, that server can see your in-game name and IP address. The same is true of shared worlds, which are peer-to-peer by design: the host and the players who join see each other's IP addresses, exactly as in any other WebRTC game. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party servers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Your dashboard can export every world and delete your account outright; deletion is immediate and irreversible. You can also email us to exercise any of these rights.
